9 reviews for Crosstown

  1. Bike is absolutely top

    Marcel -

Been using the Beixo crosstown for almost 2 years now.
Commuting, free on the train, great for avoiding traffic jams.
Nice heavy gear with which I can easily reach 25 km/h.
Now 2x faster at work (vs car) and exercise every day.
Remarkably stable bike, go so fast that other road users think it's an E bike.
Easy in the boot of the car.
    Easy to assemble and disassemble.
Put together by employees with a distance to the labour market, what a top company!
    Totally satisfied so, highly recommended

  2. Great for bikerafting

    Robertjan Kuijten (geverifieerde eigenaar) -

I bought the bike for possible commuting, but also for more sporty activities. When bikerafting (paddling a small 1-person raft across (Dutch) streams and rivers, taking your bike with you), it is very handy that the bike can be compacted quickly. With a small trailer, I take the packraft, paddle, life jacket, and other stuff with me when cycling. The folding bike then goes on the front of the packraft when paddling. No worries about chain grease or hitting the bike with the paddle!
Cycling is also fine. Not slower, rather faster, than my Gazelle transport bike. The steering takes some getting used to on longer distances, but it works fine. It could be a bit faster like on my fat tyres camping bike. But hey, it's always a compromise. The nice thing is that the combination with the trailer could also replace the transport bike. I could actually get rid of that one if I wanted to save space.

Still on the wish list is weekend bike camping combined with the train. Then it can come along for free and with a weekend pass you can get to many places that way...!

  3. Top bike

    a very satisfied user -

For over seven years, I have been using this bike several times a week for taking it on the train to work and visits. But I also use it regularly for short and long cycling holidays, up to the Petites Pyrenées and the Rhone Delta! Two panniers and a handlebar bag, free on the train, fine, even over long distances (>50km).
The drive belt is very nice, so much cleaner than my previous folding bikes. And haven't had to replace it yet.
The clamps and stem do get some play by now, but with regular retightening, this is easily overcome.
Light, quick and easy to fold, lift with one hand.

  4. Top for short distances.

    Erik Stekelenburg -

Only tested it. Before buying the more clunky Akashi Three. Couldn't sell myself that I hadn't tried this Utrecht product first. Recommended to test it, it is cute! Nicely received and advised in De Bilt too. Perfect for me if size, manageability and indoor transport are priorities and you are less than 1.5km from a train station or bus stop. When cycling itself (and distance) become more important, a chain on a sprocket still experiences just a bit more immediacy. And minor thingy, I find the exit o in the name a bit less so, with Beixa it dances more, as the bike does.

  5. Comfortable, reliable bike

    Robin B. -

Nice version of this Beixo. At the time of purchase six months ago, the Crosstown was hard to come by. Had to drive to the other side of Belgium to find a dealer who had it in stock. But luckily the move was more than worth it. I find it an ideal folding bike for commuting by train. Doesn't fit between the intercity seats but given it's not too small either, has three gears, quality tyres and frame it rides particularly well so I regularly use it for weekends with a short bike ride. Big fan of clean belt drive.

  6. Cycles great but belt already broken a few times

    HJ Krol -

Use the bike for commuting (almost 5 years). Cycles fine due to the stiff frame. Did replace mudguards (too small) and replaced the belt more than 5 times. The Crosstown is totally a top bike with a better belt.

    • beixo -

      Dear H. Krol,

Thanks for the feedback. As for the belt, it probably hits off the guide teeth on the front sprocket. Perhaps the bike was dropped once on the right side and there is a small stroke in this sprocket as a result. I think it is advisable to come by with the bike once, as 1 belt a year is wearing out not normal.

  7. Smooth and tidy

    Dietervd -

Easy ordering via the website and smooth delivery.
No spammailing to purchase anything and everything, occasional informative emails.

  8. Fine bike

    Nick -

I bought this bike about six months ago and I ride it 4 times a week. Because of my size (1.90m), I was sceptical at first, but it is no problem at all to get from A to B quickly. Adjustable stem and surprisingly long seatpost are fine, though.

  9. Surprisingly good bike

    MAURICE -

Cycles well and smoothly, very easy to fold and unfold, gear and drive belt work excellently.
